Already in his short career, Lil Gotit has received co-signs from some of the top artists from Atlanta. The young star is poised to join the top ranks in the next few months. He speaks in a concise manner, getting to the point as he's clearly focused on getting straight to the money. He's been spending plenty of time in the studio as he hones his craft but music has always been in the plans for Gotit.
Growing up alongside his blood brother Lil Keed, the two have planned on taking over the industry for years. They will need to work hard but they're following in the footsteps of some impressive hard-hitters. Everybody from Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, Gunna, and more have given Gotit the green light to do his thing. Affectionately titling his new album after his nickname Hood Baby, the rapper manages to impress while carving out a clear lane for himself. It can be hard to make your name in a talented city like Atlanta but his city has fully embraced him. In fact, many are picking Gotit and Keed to blow up in the next year. That is yet to be seen but they have all the workings of a couple of superstars in the making.
Lil Gotit took time out of his schedule to discuss his brand new album with us, explaining how he came up with his name, how the Uzi and Thug connections materialized, and what's to come in the future. Read our interview below.

HNHH: Wassup Gotit. How are you?
Lil Gotit: Good. How are you?
I’m great. Thanks for taking the time to talk with us and for coming to the office. I appreciate that. You’re on the come up right now and I wanted to start off by asking what made you want to get into music?
I just like music. I've always loved it.
Did you always want to be a rapper?
Always. I started taking it serious about four years ago.
Tell me about your family. What was your upbringing like?
My family is my everything. It was good growing up but all of us stayed in one house type shit.
Did they influence you to get into music at all?
Yeah. They ain’t know we rap until now though. They just found out.
I wanted to ask about your relationship with Lil Keed.
That’s my blood brother. Same mother, same father.
That’s what I was going to ask! Growing up, did y’all used to like rap when you were kids or is this something that you started four years ago with Keed?
I used to be the only one that rapped. Keed started like four, five years ago. I was the first one to start rapping.
You guys kind of came up together, and now you’re on a track with Lil Uzi Vert. “Heavy Metal” just came out a couple of weeks ago. How did all of that come about?
We was just in the studio one day and were all high, we just wanted to make a hard ass song. And Uzi was like, I’ll start it off and y’all come behind me. It was like alright let’s do it. He went in the booth and handled his business, we handled our business.
Based on the content of “Heavy Metal,” I wanted to ask if you were influenced by rock music at all growing up?
Just rap music. We mixed rap music with rock music. That’s the concept of “Heavy Metal.” Mixing rock music with rap music.
The song with Gunna is popping off too. Congratulations on that. How did that come about?
That’s slime. He family. I been knowing him. I rode with him to his studio session and then he rode with me to my studio and he put his verse on the song. That’s family though.
I wanted to know how you came up with your name Lil Gotit because it’s pretty original.
I used to call myself Mazi Gotit like, I got everything. But that was too long so I’m like, I gotta find a better name. So, I started calling myself Lil Gotit. It was shorter.
Also, in your music you refer to yourself as “Hood Baby.” Where did that come from?
It came from being in the hood and everybody treating me like a little bro. I’d write a song and then I started calling myself Hood Baby.
There are so many talented artists in Atlanta. What's it like with so much talent coming out of your city?
It’s a pleasure. It’s great because that’s where all the talent is, to be honest.
Who do you think is running the game in Atlanta right now?
Thugger.
What's your relationship like with Young Thug?
That’s my big brother. My mentor.
What’s the workflow like with him? Do you work on a daily basis or more weekly?
Whenever we have time, we just pull up on him, check him.
You’re signed to Alamo Records with artists like Smokepurpp & 03 Greedo. I wanted to ask what your reaction was when you found out there was a deal on the table?
My reaction was like “Damn, for sure.” But they speeded the process up. I was getting recognition. I was going up before I even dropped any songs. It was always my plan to get signed.

It's somewhat of a taboo topic in most careers but it seems everyone is getting face tattoos in music today. You have "Gotit" over your eyebrow and a few others. When did you get them?
Early last year or the year before that, I had a birthday and my homie pulled up at my house and said he wanted to give me a present. I thought it was money or weed. He said, tat your face up and I just tatted my face up. I got Gotit, because that’s who I was, that’s who I am now, so I tatted it up. The other one, I got on my face is a broken heart because my little brother died.
When did that happen?
Two years ago.
That’s crazy. RIP. I wanted to ask where you think your career is going to be headed in the next three years because a lot of people are calling you next up out of Atlanta, which I’m sure you take as a big compliment but where do you see yourself?
Hopefully at the top. The album is about to drop and it’s going to be another ball game.
