As indicated in the intro to his newest album, the number 514 holds great significance for west coast upstart Lil Boii Kantu. Born at 5:14 AM and weighing at 5 pounds and 14 ounces, Kantu was birthed at the Redondo Beach location of UCLA Health’s Specialty Care facilities which happens to sit at 514 Prospect Avenue. So, the title of Kantu’s project needs no further explanation.
Clocking out at 18 tracks total, 514 finds guest appearances from names that include Kap G, Coca Vango,Wax Motif, Lil Crow, M.A. da Pilot among a host of others.
"I feel like principles and concepts that'll help change the way we think about each other/treat each other/ and change our mindsets are missing,” Kantu explains of his role in today’s current landscape of music. “Lots of music out right now speaks too much on the physical in life and less about the spiritual, and vibrational aspects."
