LeBron James has been told by the Los Angeles Lakers that they don't want him playing any more games this season, as it simply isn't "worth it." The team is well out of a playoff spot and James has been struggling with a groin injury for the better part of the season. Instead, they would rather him get some rest and come back fresh for next year. Healthwise, LeBron could probably get away with playing in the FIBA World Cup this summer, although according to a new interview with The Athletic, LeBron will skip the World Cup as he has other things on his plate.

As the publication reported, Space Jam 2 will begin filming this Summer and James simply won't have the time to play for Team USA. Although as James explained, it has nothing to do with head coach Gregg Popovich who LeBron is admittedly a big fan of.

"I love everything about Pop, obviously, but this is not a good summer for me," James said.

With the Olympics on the horizon in 2020, LeBron isn't ruling anything out just yet.

"Yeah, that's a possibility," James said when asked about playing for the United States again. "It depends on how I feel. I love the Olympics."

Space Jam 2 is expected to drop in July of 2021 which will mark the 25 year anniversary of the first movie.
