LeBron ushered in the 2018 free agent period with a courtesy call to Cavalier's general manager Koby Altman, sources told ESPN's Dave McMenamin. The NBA superstar spoke with Altman literally a minute into the opening quarter of free agency. It's been reported that LeBron and the Cavaliers' have maintained a dialogue at season's end, and even after his agent Rich Paul notified the team his client was declining his $35.6 million for 2018-19. In order to lawfully explore his options, LeBron had to decline, even if he were to resign in Cleveland.

From what we gather, LeBron first official piece of business comes in the form of discussions with Philadelphia 76ers officials, though James will not be present when Rich Paul makes the trip to Los Angeles where the meeting is being held this afternoon. It's widely known that Philadelphia has the cap space to take on LeBron James $35.6 million contract. Of course it's not a matter of how much, but with whom, for King James.

With GM Bryan Colangelo deposed, the 76ers consortium will be made up of coach Brett Brown, ownership, and officials that make operational decisions for the squad. Other than the Lakers and the Sixers', it is beiieved one other team is strongly in the mix for his services. Additionally, the Cavs still think they have a chance of retaining their man.

Keep it peeled.
