LeBron James is easily one of the most recognizable athletes to ever live, and he has the accolades to back up his popularity. With this in mind, it shouldn't be surprising to know that memorabilia involving James sells for a whole lot of money. However, it's hard to imagine any piece of gear going for over $1 million, or even close to that amount, for that matter.

However, that is exactly what's about to happen with this LeBron James rookie card. According to sports business reporter Darren Rovell, the card is currently being sold on Goldin Auctions and the highest bid has been set to $960,000 with a whopping 23 days left in the auction. This means the bids will probably surpass $1 million in just a few weeks.

This is a significant development as the item has now broken a record for modern-day trading cards. A Mike Trout card went for over $920,000 last month although the LeBron card has already shattered this record. Clearly, there are some pretty rich people out there who are fiending for some brand new memorabilia to add to their collections.

Let us know in the comments below how much you would pay for such an item. Surely close to $1 million is just a tad too steep.
