LeBron James has been at the center of debates when it comes to whether or not NBA players should be heading back to the court. Players like Kyrie Irving think the league should be focused on racial inequality and social justice as opposed to getting back on the court. Meanwhile, LeBron thinks it would be best to show support while playing as it would provide the players with a much larger platform.

In a new report from ESPN's Tim Bontemps, it seems like many executives feel as though LeBron's motivations are tied to his legacy. Following Michael Jordan's "The Last Dance," many fans feel as MJ is the true GOAT while LeBron is still battling for that title. He has an incredible chance at his fourth championship this year and a canceled season would be one less opportunity for him to close in on Jordan.

“LeBron is going to make sure those games [in Orlando] are played, because he knows they could have a huge impact on his legacy,” an executive from the Eastern Conference said. “He knows picking up one or two more titles is the potential tipping point, and he’s determined to go for it.”

Even if the season does resume next month, there is no guarantee that LeBron does, indeed, win the championship. However, there are no two ways about it. A canceled season would be the worst thing to happen to James and the Lakers, who have an ever-shrinking window.
