Prior to Tuesday night's loss to the Brooklyn Nets, LeBron James downplayed the idea of Carmelo Anthony joining him on the Los Angeles Lakers. His feelings seemed to have changed following the 115-110 defeat at Barclays Center.

Speaking with reporters after the game, LeBron was asked again about the possibility of adding his longtime friend to the Lakers roster.

"We'll see. I don't run the team," James said. "There are obviously things that need to be worked out on both sides. But I've always wanted to play with Melo, and if the opportunity presents itself, it'll be great. So we'll see what happens."

It's no secret that LeBron and Carmelo are good friends. The two were recently spotted together in NYC, which only added fuel to rumors that the veteran forward could be headed from Houston to L.A.

Anthony, 34, has not played since November 8 after the team announced that they'd be parting ways with the 16-year veteran. In 10 games with the Rockets this season, Melo averaged a pedestrian 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds in a career-low 29.4 minutes per night.

According to a recent report by The Athletic's Joe Vardon, LeBron James believes Carmelo could be a contributor on the young, and injury-riddled, Lakers roster.

The New York Times' Marc Stein also reported that the Lakers were "staunchly against the idea of adding Carmelo Anthony" coming into the season but since the Michael Beasley signing has not paid off they could be willing to bring the 10-time All-Star on board.
