Larry Drew Will Remain As Interim Coach For Cavaliers Via New Agreement

Things are shaping up a little bit in Cleveland. Much like the last time LeBron James left the Cleveland Cavaliers, the defending Eastern Conference Champions are struggling. The Cavs have a grand total of one win on the season at the time of this post. Coach Tyronn Lue was fired after a 0-6 start to the season, with J.R. Smith asking for a trade and Kevin Love going down with an injury to top things off. Interim coach Larry Drew stepped up in place of Lue, and according to ESPN, Drew and the Cavs have come to an agreement for the rest of the season. 

Instead of looking to find a long-term replacement at the beginning of the season, the Cavs have opted to keep Drew on all season. He also received a partially guaranteed deal for the 2019-20 season. Reports claim that Drew and his agent Andy Miller secured a deal for the 2019-20 season that can be terminated for a buyout if the Cavs decide to hire a new coach. Drew is 1-2 since replacing Lue, and also led the team while Lue was out with an illness last year. Lue led the Cavaliers to three consecutive NBA Finals, and the 2016 NBA championship. He was fired with a record of 128-83.
