Khalid is probably one of the Prince's of pop music in this generation and it's safe to say he knows a Queen when he sees and hears one. The 20-year-old "OTW" singer was spotted at Los Angeles airport recently and paparazzi caught up with him to see if he thought Aretha Franklin was the Queen of Soul, being as shes reported to be on her last days.
"When I think of Aretha, I think of my mother and I think of a strong woman who has done so much, who has accomplished so much [and] achieved so much, so it's super saddening to know that she's very sick. I wish the best for her and I wish the best for her family," he told paparazzi. "She's definitely a queen and she's amazing so I really feel for her."
When asked if he wud give her the official grown, he replied: "Oh yeah, she deserves it."
Back in 2008 Beyonce labelled Tina Turner the Queen of Soul and Aretha wasn't pleased, to the point of issuing a statement. "I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyonce. However, I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy."
