Durant and the refs continue to hate each other.
Kevin Durant and his relationship with NBA referees has been well documented this year. Unfortunately for Durant, it's usually the refs who get the last laugh and that's exactly what happened last night when the Warriors played the Denver Nuggets. The Warriors won the game easily by a score of 116-102, although Durant was ejected with just over eight minutes to go in the third quarter.
Durant thought he was fouled and begin arguing with the referee over the missed call. The ref eventually gave Durant a technical foul and when he continued to plead his case, the ref hit him with a second tech. This took Durant out of the game and a sea of boos erupted in the arena.
"I thought he deserved the first technical. I didn't think he deserved the second one," Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said according to ESPN. "I was very surprised. I watched the whole thing. I didn't think he deserved to be ejected, but I think Zach Zarba is one of the best officials in the game, so I got no complaints with Zach. He knows what he's doing. He's a fantastic official. It was just surprising, and I never did really get an explanation or get a chance to talk to him, but we move on."
Durant has 15 technical fouls this year. If he picks up another one, he will be suspended for a game.
