It's been four years since Kelela dropped her first mixtape in 2013 and we're about to receive her first studio album in the coming weeks. While her professional career as a singer goes back to 2012, she's since found herself featured on some incredibly strong projects in the past year or two. Between Danny Brown, Gorillaz, Solange and Clams Casino, Kelela's voice has proven to stand strong but now is the time that she establishes her own voice as a solo artist. With her debut album Take Me Apart due out in October, Kelela drops another single off the project, "Frontline."
For many people, coming out of a relationship bares difficulty. You're still in love with the person and regardless of how toxic it is, the temptation to return to that person is strong. Kelela brings you through the motions of all that with "Frontline." As she sings the hook, she's letting the man know that even though he may think she's coming back, she's not and that he shouldn't hold his breath over it. As the second release from the project thusfar, it's safe to say that Kelela is in one of her most confident forms musically and we'll definitely be hearing some fire on Take Me Apart.
As a songstress whose talent holds more strength than her celebrity, Kelela has been dropping some incredible music that has been catching our attention as well as the attention of the public at large. Her soothing voice over ethereal production showcases a talent that she carries unlike most other singers in her field. She's able to bring you into her own world from her choice of production and her vocal talents.
It's looking like Kelela is gearing up to end 2017 strong and continue that momentum throughout 2018. She announced her debut album back in July and has been dropping singles and videos to support the hype.
If it ain't your life, I don't know how to live it
And it broke me down, I almost drowned
It's not the ending, it's not the ending
