Kehlani Wins Rule Breaker Award, Performs "Honey" At Billboard's Women In Music Event
Last night was a big night for 22-year-old Kehlani as she took home the "Rule Breaker" award at Billboard's Women in Music ceremony.
The "Already Won" singer was given the award by her "guardian angel" Nick Cannon where the singer told the crowd "he's literally the reason I'm here right now." She explained how Nick promised that if she finished high school he would let her record in his studio and set her up in an apartment. Khelani took the time to praise her icons such as Mary J. Blige, who was in the audience since winning the Icon Award, and Billboard's executive, Julie Greenwald.
“Breaking rules, in a positive light, is so important to me,” she said. “Thank you for acknowledging in a positive way.”
She also hit the stage to perform a popular beat, "Honey" where she delivered her R&B singing abilities in the most smooth way, with just a guitar playing beside her.
