Kehlani's "Keep On" is the first full song on her debut album SweetSexySavage, and as such it is a something of a tone-setter. It establishes her determination to bare all, even if that means painting herself in a negative light. She portrays herself as a bad girlfriend unworthy of her man, who inexplicably welcomes her back with open arms. "And you just keep on taking me back / And I don't know why you do / Cuz I'm no good to you," she sings.
August Rigo and Jahaan Sweet weave a rich harmonic tapestry bolstered by a magnetic, swung bass groove. Give "Keep On" a listen, then the rest of the album.
You can yell and you can curse and call me a bitch
Probably have the right to do
You can tell the world that I'm a narcissist
I would think they'd listen to you
