This Friday (Aug. 5), the "Suicide Squad" movie, which will likely be one of the summer's biggest blockbusters, is set to hit theaters. The star-studded DC Comics-inspired film brings with it an exciting soundtrack, which includes the recently released tracks "Sucker for Pain," featuring a lineup of Lil Wayne, Imagine Dragons, Wiz Khalifa, Logic, and X Ambassadors as well as "Purple Lamborghini," a collab between Rick Ross and Skrillex. The latest "Suicide Squad" track to get an early release is "Gangsta," a new solo effort from Kehlani. Selecting the song as his "World Record" of the day, Zane Lowe premiered "Gangsta" on Beats 1 radio just now, and after playing the track, he got the "Suicide Squad" director David Ayer on the air to chat about the relationship between Kehlani's new song and his film.

Ayer describes the song as having a "raw, broken yet strong, haunting quality to it," and maintains that the emotions expressed by Kehlani on "Gangsta" are pertinent to those experienced by a few main characters in "Suicide Squad."

Quotable Lyrics

I need a gangsta
To love me better
Than all the others do
To always forgive me
Ride or die with me
That's just what gangsters do
