Dounia arrives on the scene with bougie-ness to spare. Her new project The Avant-Garden "officially" drops tomorrow, but before she gets to pop the cork, her lead single with Kehlani will serve as a litmus test. Dounia has high hopes for the project because it digs deeper than your average R&B average on issues like body positivity, of which a body evidence might already exist within the DNA of her new single with Kehlani.
As a fellow POC woman, Kehlani is perfectly suited to help Dounia reach her rightful audience. The unapologetic single "Rich Girl Mood" bridges two like-minded women from opposites sides of the country, like it's "posed to happen."
"I love the fact that it’s a boastful ass anthem about female bosses," Dounia told Dazed Magazine in the leadup to her album launch. “This song and video has levels to it… I love the fact that it’s all natural bodies, (and) cool ass women with amazing energy.”
The Avant-Garden drops this Friday, November 30. Be on the lookout.
