Kamaiyah gives us a special double as she releases her new song "Successful" along with a video.
The 25-year-old who's signed to Interscope records looks hella fly and fabulous in the video that sees her and her crew driving expensive cars, dancing on beautiful boats and zipping the waters in jet skis.
The whole song is a big celebration to her success where a bouncy beat backs her lyrics about having money and not going back to being broke.
She tweeted that her video makes her feel like she's watching "the box or 106 & Park."
She added another detail to the shooting of video:
Kamaiyah was the only woman to front the 2017 XXL Freshman cover, alongside male artists like A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, PnB Rock, Madeintyo, Playboi Carti, Aminé, Kap G, Kyle, Ugly God and XXXTentacion.
Representing the female side of the industry is something she has some tips about. She spoke with Pitchfork last year where she said that woman don't have to be a "sex symbol" to make it.
"I want young women to know that they don't have to be a sex symbol to sell records or get love. Because right now you see one thing—which is Nicki—and everybody feels like they have to be that. But you can't be a copy of her because you're not going to sell. You can't be a clone of somebody else."
Kamaiyah also brought up an important quote about music making, that she has clearly applied to her new track.
"We live in a melodic world. It's no longer about lyricism. It's about how good your beat is and how good the harmonies and melodies are," she explained. "Because, in the first 10 seconds, you're going to know if you like a song or not. That's just how the world is now. People aren't going to vibe with you if you come on too hardcore or too deep. That's why people save those things for their album."
I was working late nights in the cold
Prey to god and he answer me slow
Now I got everything that I ask
Been broke and I an't tryna go back
