Yesterday we posted about the 16 felony charges that have been handed to Jussie Smollett amid the staged racial and homophobic attack the Empire actor planned against himself. By no surprise at all, TMZ reports that since Jussie began being looked at as the suspect in the case, his career and Hollywood offers began declining and now the well is completely dry.
The publication details how just after the attack, when he was still being looked at as an innocent victim, he was getting all kinds of movie, TV show, commercial and of course, interview opportunities. Once the story changed and evidence proved that Jussie was the brains behind the horrible event, people started backing out of their offers.
The weird twist in this all is that Chicago Police previously stated that Jussie's motive behind staging the attack was due to his acting salary that he wasn't happy with. Now that he took advantage of people's sympathy and staged an event that tragically happens in real life, it looks like his acting salary may soon be non-existent.
"I’m left hanging my head and asking why. Why would anyone, especially an African American man, use the symbolism of a noose to make false accusations? How could someone look at the hatred and suffering associated with that symbol and see an opportunity to manipulate that symbol to further his own public profile?" Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said. "How can an individual who’s been embraced by the city of Chicago turn around and slap everyone in this city in the face by making these false claims?"
