The NBA has announced that John Legend will perform at the 66th All-Star Game in New Orleans next year.

Legend just released his fifth studio album Darkness and Light earlier this month. He will take the stage at halftime on Sunday, February 9th live from the Smoothie King Center.

Two of the best performances in NBA All-Star Game history occurred before halftime: Marvin Gaye's national anthem at the 1983 game, one year before his death, and Kendrick Lamar's sublime performance during the 2014 Slam Dunk Contest. Revisit these two moments below.
