NBA 2K is far and away the basketball video game of choice nowadays, but NBA Live is still around and it's still an honor to grace the cover of the storied EA Sports video game franchise.

During last night's second annual NBA Awards Show, EA Sports officially announced Philadelphia 76ers' All-Star center Joel Embiid as the cover athlete for NBA Live 19 "The ONE" edition, which is a play on NBA Live's career mode called "The One."

Embiid will be one of the NBA stars that gamers can select in "The One," the game’s career mode, which debuted in last year's edition. This year, EA is adding a feature called "Build Your Squad" in which players will be able to compete in parks around the world, with the goal of recruiting current NBA athletes, such as Embiid, as well as “several other prolific ballers,” according to EA, along with all-time greats like NBA Hall of Famer Allen Iverson.

The game is scheduled to release on Playstation 4 and Xbox One on September 7th. For more on what's new in NBA Live 19, click here.
