Jimmy Wopo's the latest to tackle Tay-K's viral single.

This past year's been great for Jimmy Wopo. The rapper kicked off the year on a strong note with the release of his Jordan Kobe mixtape in March and since then he's been going strong. However, he was recently set back after violating probation and getting incarcerated for a few months. None of that stopped his drive as he came out and dropped off his most recent project, Back Against The Wall. Today, he comes through with some fire with his take on Tay-K's "The Race."

Considering his recent legal troubles, Jimmy Wopo's approach on this track falls in a similar vein as Tay-K's. The rapper opens up the track with ferocious bars, calling out the Allegheny County Jail where he was recently locked up. He continues to rap menacing bars throughout the track while giving a bit more insight to the legal trouble he was recently faced with. It's a solid effort from Wopo that continues his streak as an artist to watch right now. Despite the fact that many have tackled "The Race" instrumental, Wopo's authenticity and grittiness help the song stand-out.

The delivered the single with a video as well. Simply shot, it consists of Wopo throwing up cash and flexing in Pittsburgh Steelers' colors in the kitchen. It's an effective little video for his short freestyle.

Jimmy Wopo came into the weekend with his new single "50/50" and came into the new week with his new freestyle. We're not exactly sure what he has planned but it's safe to say the rapper isn't taking his time for granted. He dropped two different mixtapes this year so hopefully, he has something major planned for 2018. He's dropped a consistent amount of music despite his incarceration and continued to keep his buzz high during that time.
