Amid all of the chaos that is the NBA trade deadline, we have some news out of the NFL. And it will make 49ers fans very happy.
According to NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo, the San Francisco 49ers have agreed to a five-year, $137.5 million contract with 26-year old quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. If the numbers are accurate, it will be the biggest deal in NFL history on a average-per-year basis. $74 million will be guaranteed as part of the deal, according to NBC Sports Bay Area reporter, Matt Maiocco.
The Niners acquired Jimmy G last season in a trade with the New England Patriots that only cost them a a 2018 second round pick. San Francisco went 5-0 with Garoppolo under center, after starting the season 1-10. He completed 67% of his passes with seven touchdowns and five interceptions.
The 49ers will have the ninth pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
