JID is one day removed from dropping off his DiCaprio 2 album, which many have already placed within the year's elite tier. Now, the Dreamville lyricist slid through to chop it up with Complex, where he talked DiCaprio, Leo, and a Dreamville vs TDE battle royale.

"We competing with TDE," says JID, confidently posted up on the couch. "That's what needs to be known. Dreamville, we gotta step this shit the fu*k up. Cause them n***as is fire! I don't even know any entities that I fu*k with, but I fu*k with TDE." Such a tilt would be a competition to behold, and oddsmakers would have their work cut out for them. On the Dreamville team, we're looking at: JID, J. Cole, Bas, Cozz, EarthGang, Omen, Lute, and Ari Lennox. On the TDE side, we've got:  Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, SZA, Ab-Soul, Isaiah Rashad, SiR, Lance Skiiiwalker, and Reason. Who are you backing in this one?

Citing Leonardo DiCaprio as an inspiration behind his rather appropriately titled DiCaprio 2, JID explains that he once saw a parallel between himself and the Wolf Of Wall Street actor. "He didn't have no Oscars, no awards at that time period in 2015 I made it. It's like boom, I had no deal, there was a symmetry there. A duality I could play with. I wasn't trying to make it too deep. I ain't got no awards, I ain't got no deal. I'm broke. This one is like, okay, he got [his awards], I'm signing. This is going to be the last time I do it."

Though the DiCaprio series has come to an end with its second installment, be sure to support one of the game's best lyricists by checking out his new album right here.
