It's been the better part of two years since Jhene Aiko's last solo album, her Souled Out debut, but the singer made an unexpected return earlier this year alongside Big Sean as part of the duo TWENTY88. Their debut self-titled album was accompanied by a short film entitled "Out of Love." In a new interview with Nylon magazine, Aiko revealed that she's working on a "special project" that, like the release of TWENTY88, looks to involve multiple mediums.

In the interview, Aiko lists singing, writing, and acting as the three passions that guide her life. Her upcoming project looks to combine those three talents into one piece of art, which suggests that there might be a cinematic accompaniment to whatever music she has planned. "That's why it's been three years that I've been working on it, and I'd like to share it with everyone soon," she revealed. Though details are scant, it seems that Aiko's end goal with her next offering is something along the lines of Beyonce's Lemonade, which was initially premiered as a "visual album."

As for the music, Aiko was also hesitant to give away too much information, but she did reveal that she's been working with singer/guitarist John Mayer, who she says is one of three people of whom she's a "die-hard" fan.

Three years in the making, the Souled Out follow-up is sounding mysteriously promising. Stay tuned.
