Jay Z is lending his name and style to Barneys New York for a limited edition holiday line. Although we're used to hearing about his rapping partner Kanye West when it comes to high end fashion, this time Hov is stepping into the high fashion world with collaborations with Balmain, Lanvin, Proenza Schouler, Rick Owens and more.
What are sure to be hefty price tags on these items aren't just funneling back into the brands, a quarter of the proceeds will go to Jay Z's Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. Barneys announced the collaboration on Instagram saying, "Barneys New York is excited to announce A New York Holiday, an unprecedented holiday event in collaboration with Shawn ‘JAY Z’ Carter."
Jay Z also explained how the city of NYC continually inspires him, and this line is a result of that, as it embodies what a 'New York Holiday' is. "With this project, Barneys New York and I were able to take the slickness, energy, and innovation of New York City and translate that into quality, timeless pieces. Everything that encompasses ‘A New York Holiday’—the items chosen, the amazing designers that participated, the windows, the design of the BNY SCC Gallery—represents a perfect example of a unique and groundbreaking collaboration that I hope demonstrates how inspiring New York has been to me," the rapper said.
On top of selling these items of apparel (starting November 20th) Barneys will put an interactive holiday art installation on display, which was conceived by Jay, visual artist Joanie Lemercier, and Barneys New York creative director Dennis Freedman.

Now that Jay Z's holiday collection with Barneys NY is officially in stores and available online, we can check out all the collaborative items that were created on Jay's watch.
Every piece has a hefty price tag, for example, if you're looking to cop the Rick Owens Mollino Crocodile Jacket you'll have to have $58,000 set aside. If you don't have $58-grand laying around, perhaps the Barneys NYC t-shirt is a better fit-- only $70.
If you want that 18kt Gold Shawn Carter by Hublot watch, you'll be spending $33,900. However, you can cop the Black Hublot watch for only $17,900. No matter, all the profits for these items go to charity.
