Rich Forever Music's Jay Critch may be among 2018's most slept on voices. The Brooklyn rapper is determined to rectify that notion. After a stellar effort on the breakout Rich Forever 3, which found him trading verses with Rich The Kid and Famous Dex, Critch continues to carve out his own lane. Today, he steps to the plate to try his hand at the gauntlet. Funkmaster Flex freestyles have yielded some truly impressive efforts, from Black Thought's legendary ten minute barrage, to Action Bronson's hilarious and intense session - the list goes on. Now, Critch has emerge to stake his claim.
Taking to Jay-Z & Beanie Sigel's American Gangster cut "Ignorant Shit," the rapper locks in with some solid bars. While it's a respectable effort, Critch loses a few style points for busting out the phone. It's not always easy to perform with conviction when you're reading something, and as a result, his freestyle loses a bit of flourish. Still, sometimes, you gotta do what you gotta do. "New money make me sleep tight, I dream of this shit/On stage with The Game, crowd screaming and shit, cameras flash I'll try to say cheese for the pic," raps Critch.
While this one probably won't be making the Flex Hall of Fame, it's still a good look for the young rapper. 2018 is shaping up to be a big year for Critch, who will be appearing on Rich The Kid's upcoming The World Is Yours.
