The annual award show Black Girls Rock takes place this weekend and after reporting who will be hosting (Miss Queen Latifah) we're now here with more details on the honorary event. The woman set to take home the biggest award of the night will be none other than Janet Jackson, who is set to receive a golden trophy for being a Phenomenal Woman in Music. "I’m truly honored and excited. See u soon," Janet said of the news.
Other awesome Black women set to be honoured is Mary J. Blige, who will receive the Star Power award, Naomi Campbell, receiving the Black Girl Magic award, and dancer and choreographer Judith Jamison who will be honoured with the Living Legend award for her work.
Although the show will take place this weekend, it will officially be broadcasted on September 9th.
Janet is no rookie when it comes to VIP awards, she's previously won the MTV Vanguard award in 1990 and has been recognized by BET and Billboard with Icon awards. Not to mention Janet's 26 Grammy nominations and 5 wins.
