What does silky smooth R&B god James Fauntleroy have in common with punk rockers? His songs rarely exceed the three minute mark, or even the two minute mark, in this case. "Mid-Air" is his latest bite-sized confection of deft songwriting, melodic mastery and vocal precision.

Although he's contributed to projects by A$AP Rocky, Vince Staples and others this year, Fauntleroy's abilities are only fully realized when he's left to do things solo dolo. What's frustrating, though, is the fact that any of his recent tracks could be huge if they were fleshed out a little more. But for what it's worth, you won't find better pocket-sized R&B cloudkickers anywhere else.

Quotable Lyrics

I cannot describe
The way I'm feeling
Some would call it high
But I call you this evening
