As if $2.8 billion wasn't enough, James Cameron is making four more Avatar movies. The original was the highest-grossing at the worldwide box office of any movie, ever. Matching that success with a sequel (not to mention 5) will be difficult, especially considering they have to reach approximately the GDP of Sierra Leone.

The existence of sequels has been known for the past few years, but detailed information has been scarce. Now, however, we've got the names of the next four movies. Number two will be called Avatar: The Way of Water and, according to Cameron himself, "there's a tremendous amount of water work across Avatar 2 and 3." This coming from the guy who made a whole documentary while cooped up underwater in a submarine and also Titanic, the star of which, Kate Winslet will be reuniting with Cameron for the new Avatars. Winslet will be playing "a character who's part of the Sea People, the reef people."

Sigourney Weaver, who will be reprising her role as Dr Grace Augustine, told The Hollywood Reporter that numbers two and three are done filming and that four and five are currently being shot. Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: The Seed Bearer, Avatar: The Tulkun Rider and Avatar: The Quest for Eywa will be released in 2020, 2021, 2024 and 2025 respectively.
