Jaden Smith's new project SYRE: THE ELECTRIC ALBUM isn't so much a new project but an alternate universe version of his debut. Before releasing the project through Instagram last weekend, Jaden promised that it was "not a rap album," and he wasn't lying. The "electric" arrangements of the songs from SYRE feature gentle guitar arpeggios and auto-tuned murmurs. It almost seems like they're spontaneous jam sessions based around the original tracks. "Ninety," surprisingly, is shorter than the song it's based on, but features a lot of ideas over its just-under-5-minute runtime. The closing 30-seconds features one of the most memorable hooks across the album, bringing to mind the hazy feel of Frank Ocean's Blonde. It's the kind of carefree, directionless energy that defines a teenage summer.

You can listen to the full project, now available to stream across streaming services, here.

Quotable Lyrics:
Girl I'm traumatized
Said I left my bags in the mountain
That's when you told us we we’re all suprised
Don't worry baby girl I'm on your side
Oh, when I open my eyes
