J-Soul channels "Belly" in new clip.
Back in March, Birdman’s latest Canadian protégé J-Soul dropped off his "Mod Ting" single. On the track, J-Soul employs the island-rooted sound that brought him to prominence, while marrying it with a mainstream pop backing all produced by Alan Zadeh. It all makes for an energetic cut that most recently got the visual treatment.
Directed by Majik Films, the new clip opens up with a replication of the famous opening scene in Nas and DMX’s Hype Williams-directed “Belly” film as Soul and his crew come through a club with a familiar blue light illuminating the scene, setting the stage for a robbery that kicks off a music video that packs as much intensity as the cut itself.
