As we reported last night, J. Cole has announced the official launch of his Dreamville imprint, which will host his Dreamvillain artists whom we've become familiar with through Cole, such as Bas and Omen.

The Cole World rapper made the announcement prior to hitting the stage at Madison Square Gardens in NYC, and after he got off stage, Forbes was able to catch up with him to get a few words about the move.

“We provide the artist, the direction, the guidance, the music, the new ideas, and they provide muscle and years of experience of really giving artists the proper push,” Cole said referring to linking up with Interscope Records. “We hope to add to the list of legendary albums that were made over in that building.”

He continued, “As an executive it gives me the opportunity to sign acts and break them, but as a producer it allows me to produce someone’s entire album and put it out – that’s what I really look forward to.”

Cole tipped his hat to those music moguls that came before him specifically Dr. Dre and Jay Z, “It’s definitely a path that’s been made possible by the Dr. Dres and the Jay Zs – these guys who had amazing artistic ability in terms of rapping and production and song writing, but also had a double-sided executive mind.”

Yesterday was a pretty big day for North Carolina native. Not only was it his birthday, but he dropped a Dreamville compilation mixtape, and received his Roc Nation chain from Hov himself. Congratulations are in order!
