J. Cole's idolization of Nas is no big secret, and the respect has also been returned from Esco himself, who hopped on Cole's "Let Nas Down" joint to express his admiration for the NC rapper. Well, Cole has made Nas proud yet again, making a very personal speech at this year's Vibe Impact Awards, which honored the Queensbridge rapper.
On top of sending the highest praises to Nas, Cole shared the story of when he first heard "I Gave You Power," a song which caused his 11 year old self to exclaim, "Oh my god, this nigga's the greatest!". This led to the Born Sinner studying Nas' storytelling, printing his lyrics on his wall, and ultimately making him the rapper he is today.
Swizz Beatz, Busta Rhymes, and No I.D. also attended the ceremony.
