Last month Insecure creator and star Issa Rae let us know that we’d be getting the Season 3 premiere in August of this year and now she’s returned with a new teaser for the season, once more returning to the bathroom mirror to deliver on a few bars the way only she can: “Hey mirror bitch, you looking real clean/You looking real bad, you looking like a queen.”
Before we get to her the end of the hot sixteen though, Issa’s interrupted by Daniel on the other side of the door. That’s about all we’re getting for now, but if it means that we’re one step closer to seeing what’s come of the great adventures of Issa, Molly, Lawrence, Kelly, and Tiffany, we’ll take what we can get.
Most recently, the show earned a prestigious Peabody Award with the organization writing that, “Issa Rae delivers a groundbreaking series that captures the lives of everyday young black people in Los Angeles with a fresh and authentic take. Breaking away from tired and familiar representations of ‘diversity’ on television, this series offers a fun and intimate portrayal of work, relationships, and the ordinary experiences of the two young black women at its center.”
According to Issa, though, the writer and actress’s goal was to simply see herself and her “reflected on television, in the same way that white people are allowed, and which nobody questions.” Season 3 of Insecure debuts on August 12th on HBO.
