Jag

ILoveMakonnen links with Awful's LuiDiamonds for "Jag," a smooth, carefree banger produced by Tunji Ige.

Since announcing his departure from OVO, iLoveMakonnen has realigned himself with the Awful Records crew, joining the ATL collective for shows and, now, a new collaboration. "Jag" was shared via Father's SoundCloud, and along with Makonnen, the track features Awful rapper LuiDiamonds. It was also written with the help of one of Awful's leading ladies in Lord Narf. As for the production, that comes from Philly's Tunji Ige, with whom Makonnen recently collaborated on "Don't Do Too Much." Ige is more known for his rapping skills, but he blesses "Jag" with a cool, uppity beat that sounds like a blend of classic Atlanta trap and N64-era video game music.

LuiDiamonds channels his inner-Gucci for the immediately catchy hook, and Makonnen drops off some of his cleanest flows in a minute -- ditching the abstract ramblings (which have been very much appreciated) and instead focusing on tempo and simple but effective content.

Quotable Lyrics

I pulled up, hopped out, jumped out the jag
Had so much money, couldn't fit it in the bag
God damn Super Chef, tell me where you're goin'
Yo shit look like October, and it's snowin'
Halloween boy, man you lookin' kinda scary

- Quotable Lyrics
