The Netflix show about the birth of hip hop readies its comeback.
Baz Luhrmann’s epic retelling of the birth of hip hop in New York is about to return to Netflix to complete its first season. The Get Down left off midseason in 1977 as the cast members were just beginning to bring their South Bronx sound to the masses amid political turmoil in New York City.
The new teaser promises even more progress and growth for The Get Down crew. Netflix isn’t the only one tackling the early days of hip hop. VH1 just began a TV series based on their TV movie The Breaks, although that one is set a little over a decade after the events of The Get Down.
The second set of six episodes from The Get Down is set to drop on April 7. Are you going to be watching? Listen to the show's official soundtrack to get yourself ready.
