The day that Game of Thrones fans have awaited with equal parts agony and anticipation is quickly approaching. As the premiere for the show's 8th and final season nears, watchers have been discussing conspiracy theories, speculating the show's ending, and vying for any details about what to expect.

In an announcement made earlier this week, premium television network HBO revealed that fans could look forward to an episode-long battle scene. Peter Dinklage who plays the role of Tyrion Lannister declared the aforementioned scene, “makes the Battle of the Bastards look like a theme park.” Bryan Cogman, a writer of the show, divulged a few details about how the forthcoming season is slated to begin.“Season 8 opens at Winterfell with an episode that contains plenty of callbacks to the show’s pilot," he shared. "Instead of King Robert’s procession arriving, it’s Daenerys and her army. What follows is a thrilling and tense intermingling of characters—some of whom have never previously met, many who have messy histories—as they all prepare to face the inevitable invasion of the Army of the Dead.” He added that show's ending will include a twist that fans unlikely to see coming.
