"El Gato" will soon be upon us.
How many artists can say they've released two albums, had a televised wedding, signed a massive record deal, sat down with Malcolm Gladwell, and released a New York Time's bestselling autobiography over the span of a single year? The irreplaceable Gucci Mane can, and he's looking to pad his stats by going for the hat trick, releasing his third album of 2017, El Gato The Human Glacier. The Atlanta icon has previously dropped the Metro Boomin assisted DropTopWop back in June, following it up with the more commercially accessible Mr. Davis, which featured a wide array of high profile guests.
Now, Gucci is back on his East Atlanta Santa tip, intent on dropping off El Gato right in time for Christmas. He recently took to Twitter to share the project's release date, confirming it as Friday, December 22nd. Moreover, he confirmed that it would be another single-producer project, with Southside handling the instrumental duties. Over the past year, the 808 Mafia CEO has produced on a handful of Mr. Davis tracks, including "I Get The Bag," "Lil Story," "Make Love," and "Money Piling," as well as DropTopWop's "5 Million Into" and "Met Gala."
It's certainly good news for fans of Atlanta hip-hop, and even if you're disappointed to see an absence of mainstays like Metro Boomin or Zaytoven, it wouldn't be surprising to see a co-production credit or too. After all, 808 Mafia is known for their collaborative, familial spirit in the studio. As for El Gato, the project has been confirmed to be ten songs. Stay tuned for more news on the latest from Gucci Mane, Southside and El Gato The Human Glacier.
