Minneapolis rapper LA has scored a big feature on his new single "I Made It," getting some help from the ultra-prolific Trap God Gucci Mane. LA definitely comes off as someone who may have been taking notes throughout Gucci Mane's run, as he proves on a hook that is as simple as it is catchy. While the writing and structure of the aspirational record sound reminiscent of Gucci's (or even Jeezy's) well-worn formula, LA makes up the difference with a confrontational delivery that puts him at odds with the current wave of melodic rappers -- ultimately, it works to his favor.
Meanwhile, Gucci Mane takes a more modest approach, never breaking from his casually stylish in-the-pocket flow that enters with a muted shift in the beat. "I'm young, rich and very fly / And I'm kinda famous," he raps. Plus all my n---as strapped up / Yeah, we armed and dangerous / They say that Gucci Mane a mogul / He goin' global / They know that Guwop game bicoastal / His ice bipolar."
Gucci Mane just announced a new album, which if released within the next two months, would be his third of 2017. "I'm naming my next album El Gato the Human Glacier," Gucci announced via Twitter. "I wanna make 10 mo million for my honeymoon."
Gucci recently married his longtime girlfriend Keyshia Ka'oir. The wedding was broadcast on BET in a special called TheMane Event. He released Mr. Davis, his second album of 2017, earlier this month. The project features guest appearances from The Weeknd, Migos, Big Sean, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Schoolboy Q, Ty Dolla $ign, Young Dolph, Slim Jxmmi, A$AP Rocky & more. The album is available to stream across all major streaming services.
