One of many big collaborations of "Mr. Davis."

After suffering a brief delay, Gucci Mane's Mr. Davis was released Friday. More than any of his other post-prison releases, Gucci's latest bears the markings of a major label rap album, which perhaps contributed to its pushback. Big features are packed tightly into the 17-track project, with contributions from Big Sean, Chris Brown, The Weeknd, Migos, Nicki Minaj, and ScHoolboy Q, among others. The high profile acts also extend to the production credits, with Mike WiLL Made It, Zaytoven, Southside, Detail and Key Wane making appearances. With all that being said, track 15, "Jumped Out The Whip," reserves some of the biggest names among the strong collective of collaborators. Metro Boomin and Cubeatz supply the cold, heavy beat while A$AP Rocky slides through for a nimble verse, at times sounding like a young 50 Cent.

There's a presence of younger artists throughout Mr. Davis. Taking inspiration from the younger generation is something that's very important to Gucci, as he expressed in an interview withighsnobiety. "I feed off of the energy of young artists. It takes me back to the time when I was trying to get in the game, trying to get heard and just trying to build a fan base," he said. "Sometimes it’s hard for me to feel the same hunger, but if I keep them around me, they’re so eager and they’re ready to make their next home run record. It makes me want to be in the studio, it makes me want to perform. I just feed off the energy. They keep me going." Sticking with that mentality, Gucci also appears on the self-titled project from teenage SoundCloud sensation Lil Pump's, released last week.

Gucci recently expressed interest in going independent following the delay of Mr. Davis. "2018 I'm going 100 percent independent and dropping a mixtape every other day," he wrote.

Quotable Lyrics:
Sugar daddy Gucci Mane
I'm holding a knot
You can't even fathom
All the hundreds I got
I'ma give you money
If you want it or not
A red droptop Phantom
Just swerved in the lot
Guwop got a sack
Have you heard it or not?
