G Perico keeps driving the G-Funk style into the future.

If you're hearing subtle traces of Short Dawg in G Perico's voice, you've heard right. West Coast rap has retained its core values without yielding to external pressure, due in part to rappers like G Perico waving the flag. His insistent gaze is unnerving to those on the outside looking in. In truth, his approach to modern G-Funk stands alone in its class, mainly because he seldom forgets what the G preposition represents. The incessant "funk" factor is only half the equation.

On "Mo Power," G Perico lists off those other vocations, unbeknownst to who might be listening. As tradition has it, he uses spare language more often than not, once to describe a gunfight where 40mm bullets either graze his body or pass right through him. I've likely already spoken out of turn. His latest EP Guess What? is an easy sell for West Coast purists, in adherence to style, unequivocally.

Quotable Lyrics:

Mo' Power to you nothin' ass, buck ass n****s
Twenty-Eighteen, I be countin' my riches
No belt, blue rags holdin' up my britches
Might toss the rims and throw the Cutlass on switches
N****s shit declinin' so now they wanna holla
I ain't take no loans, I'm out really gettin' dollars
N**** this a business on some Crip shit
I used to see your girlfriend on some pimp shit.
