The G.O.O.D. Music crew, minus 'Ye, stopped by the Breakfast Club while doing promo for the Cruel Summer album, which officially dropped yesterday.
Pusha T, Big Sean, Teyana Taylor, Common and CyHi The Prynce discussed the new album, as well as their individual projects, rumors and beef, the crew dynamic and more.
On their vibe as a crew, Pusha Ton says it's chill. "Yeah it's cool. It's been easy. I mean, like, everybody is always going different places anyways, so we only get to connect at times like this."
Although being the veteran in the group, Common says he's still learning from everyone else, "I be learnin' from these dudes. These cats be inspirin' me. Like Pusha said, it ain't many times we all together, but when I come around, it's like damn, these dudes be rhymin' and killin' it."
Even though their boss and label head, Kanye West, wasn't present, the crew didn't seem to mind. When asked where he was and why he hasn't been doing promo for the album, Common answered, "He be in that music. He be working on that music."
On whether or not Kanye is anal, the G.O.O.D. music family answered without hesitation, "Absolutely." Big Sean expanded on Kanye's perfectionism, saying it's made him a better artist. "It's been times, but I think that's made us better artists. It's been times where I rewritten my verses on my own, just 'cause I've like done 'em, went to him, and he'll point out facts and things to make it better. It all makes sense, he's never made the verse worse, it only gets better. So I apply that method," Big Sean continued, "any type of verse I do I take my time with it."
Finally, Pusha T also spoke on the Lil Wayne-Drake-Beef, downplaying it. "Man, ain't nothin'. That was crazy, I just put out music man, if it touch his soul, it touch his soul. But, you know, it ain't nothin'. I keep puttin' out music," Pusha T said of his initial diss track "Exodus 23:1" which sparked Lil Wayne's infamous comment, "fuck Pusha T and anybody that love em."
