The Fyre Festival continues to make headlines, long after its disastrous launch in the summer of 2017. Thanks to a pair of popular and informative documentaries on Netflix & Hulu, the general public was given a deeper insight into what many, many things went wrong. Despite the doomed nature of the festival, the actual launch went further south than anyone might have anticipated, with attendees reverting to Lord Of The Flies upon nightfall. One particular douchebag even boasted about peeing on mattresses to prevent anyone from sleeping nearby.
In any case, the festival-turned-apocalypse has led to no shortage of lawsuits, with little to no source of income to rectify the scorned. As a result, the minds behind FYRE have turned to the unconventional, looking to capitalize on the festival's infamous place in modern pop culture. Though there remains an approximated $26 million in damages to payout, the Manhattan U.S. Attorney's Office has decided to auction off official merchandise from the festival.
"We have an assortment of the ‘real thing’ Fyre Festival-branded tee-shirts, sweatpants, sweatshirts, hats, wristbands and medallions," explains a United States Marshals spokesperson. "We know that there is tremendous interest in these items in the NY metro area in particular....Our objective always is to get the funds back to the victims as fast as we can in cases where there are victims."
