Frank Ocean released his album, Blond two years a go and to this day, it stands as one of the strongest R&B albums of recent times. The project went on to top several year end lists. Despite the critical acclaim, it took a while for the project to reach platinum status which was likely impacted by Nielsen Music's rules surrounding streaming service. After the album went platinum last month, it looks like Frank's mother has finally received the plaque for it.
Frank Ocean's mother got a pleasant surprise yesterday when she received the platinum plaque for his critically acclaimed album, Blond. Katonya Breaux shared a set of photos on Instagram of herself receiving the plaque with the caption, "A special treat from a very special team!! @stem @milana @kasetfries @timeluckow #blond." It's interesting because Frank Ocean is extremely private and he hasn't necessarily commented on his album going platinum. Regardless, his mother's Instagram feed is full of proud mom moments of her son's accomplishments.
Frank Ocean's Blond was certified platinum in July of this year. This actually marks the first platinum certified album he's released. Channel Orange was only certified gold by the RIAA.
While we wait new music from Frank, in May it was reported that he'd be making his movie debut in the upcoming film Ships Passing The Night. There isn't much information on his role or the film just yet but we'll keep you posted.
