"The fight is on."
Mark your calendars for August 26th, it's official.
Today, the Nevada State Athletic Commission approved a request submitted by Mayweather Promotions to host a boxing event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on August 26th.
"I got a call [Tuesday] night from Mayweather Promotions that they wanted to be put back on the agenda, so I put them back on the agenda," Bob Bennett, executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, told ESPN's Dan Rafael. "They pulled the request but then decided to put it back on."
According to ESPN, the welterweight fight will be aired on Showtime, Mayweather's broadcast partner.
As of now, the 40-year old Mayweather (49-0) is an overwhelming favorite at Vegas Sportsbooks sitting at -800, while McGregor, 28, is currently listed at +500.
