There's a new social media scam making the rounds, targeting sneakerheads on Instagram with promises of becoming a Nike influencer eligible to receive free Nike products.

The fake flyer describes that Nike is “recruiting any ambassadors for our upcoming new brand” and it asks users with more than 250 followers to repost the advertisement to to their IG story, follow the @nike_recruitss page and mention the handle in their post. Although the recruitment flyer and the "Nike_ Recruitss" handle wreak of fraudulent behavior, a growing number of people have already fallen for the scam.

One twitter user shared the flyer with the official Nike account, which produced the following response, "That is not an authorized Nike account," confirming that it is not a legitimate offer. It's unclear exactly what the scammers were aiming to achieve, other than growing a following on their IG page.

The fake account, as well as another fugazzi Nike recruits instagram page, have both been disabled since word got out about the scam.
