Jay-Z's name was used in vain.
Jay-Z's company Roc Nation unwittingly helped a Long Island firm conduct illegal activity.
According to the New York Post, those running the firm Cardis International supposedly fake ties to the rapper and his entertainment outfit in order to screw investors out of $70 million. Cardis told backers that they had been hired by Roc Nation for their bill processing, but Hov exec Briant Biggs, has confirmed that this statement is completely false.
Investor Dvora Weinstein claims in a lawsuit that Cardis co-founder Aaron Fischman baited her into investing $300,000 in Cardis, saying that, despite not needing her support, he'd make "a generous exception" if she did. Fischman and other Cardis higher-ups have not yet commented.
