Former WWE superstar Ashley Massaro was reportedly found hanging in her Long Island apartment last week in an apparent suicide, according to TMZ Sports. Officials still have not formally announced the cause of Massaro's death, but ex-WWE star CM Punk recently called into WMGM and explained that he heard Ashley had taken her own life.

"Tremendously sad way to go," Punk said (H/T TMZ) ... "Thoughts obviously go out to her family, especially her daughter."

"It's May. It's Mental Health Month ... if you're depressed and things aren't going your way, there's no reason to feel alone," Punk added.

"Just reach out to somebody. Text a friend. Call somebody. There's hotlines. There's ways you can get help."

The WWE honored Massaro with an "In Memory" video tribute during Sunday's "Money in the Bank" PPV in Connecticut. She is survived by her 18-year old daughter, Alexa.

Massaro broke into the WWE in 2005, after winning the "Raw Diva Search," which included a 1-year contract worth $250,000. She remained with the company until 2008, with her last match, a 12-woman tag team bout, coming on the April 28 edition of Monday Night Raw. During her time in WWE, Massaro had two Wrestlemania matches, including a "Lumberjill Match" against Melina at Wrestlemania 23 and a tag-team match with Maria Kanellis against Beth Phoenix and Melina at WrestleMania XXIV.

In addition to her in-ring career, Massaro appeared on "Survivor: China" in 2007 - though she was voted off on the second episode of that series. She also appeared on the April 2007 cover of Playboy Magazine.
