The reals ones know that respect must be put on Eve's name at all times. The Ruff Ryders' First Lady may have gracefully bowed out of the rap game, but she spent many years holding it down for the Double R. Now, the "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" hitmaker currently occupies a spot as a host on The Talk, where she speaks on a variety of social & political issues. In a recent episode, the subject of drugging drinks came up; perhaps the ongoing Bill Cosby was a catalyst for the subject. Either way, Eve opened up about her own experience being "roofied," and the unlikely hero who came to her rescue.
As she tells it, she was at an industry party with many familiar faces. Feeling at ease, Eve wasn't exactly cautious about putting her drink down. Eventually, she realized something was off. “I started feeling crazy and not drunk and I knew immediately something was different and it was weird because I was there, but I wasn’t there,” says Eve. “Whoever I was with, I tapped them on the shoulder and said, ‘Something is wrong’, and they were like, ‘No you’re just drunk’, and I started hysterically crying.”
Her people then helped bring her to a private room in an attempt to calm her down, but it wasn't enough. Enter Ms. Jackson. "I hear this really soft voice that’s like, ‘It’s OK, I’ll take care of it’, and I’m, like, snot crying, and I turn around and its Janet Jackson," says Eve. “I was so embarrassed and I was like, ‘I didn’t want to meet you like this.” As she tells it, the mucus was flowing.
While Janet's heroism and maternal nature are worthy of praise, it's sad that Eve found herself going through the harrowing experience in the first place. Especially at a party surrounded by familiar faces.
