Times are tough over at Tesla: the company lost $8 billion in shareholder value. Especially so for their CEO and boyfriend-of-Grimes, Elon Musk, who's been feeling the effects most harshly and taking out his stress by calling a diver in a rescue mission a "pedo." After the news of Tesla's decline, Musk called in to his local paper, The New York Times, and explained to them the disheartening details of what it's like to run Tesla.

“This past year has been the most difficult and painful year of my career,” he said. “It was excruciating.” Musk has been stressed as the chairman and CEO of a very fast growing company, one that is poised to make a major leap from the luxury car market, to the more accessible mass-market with its new Model 3. To achieve this goal, Musk wants to take the company private and so he tweeted this intention, causing a massive rise in Tesla stock price (he is now being investigated for tampering with the market).

The tweet apparently happened as he was in the car, on his way to the airport and wasn't checked by anyone else at the company:

Concerning the specific number of the share price, Musk said in typical silicon valley style: “it seemed like better karma at $420 than at $419. But I was not on weed, to be clear. Weed is not helpful for productivity. There’s a reason for the word ‘stoned.’ You just sit there like a stone on weed.” Although Musk wasn't "on" weed, he has been on Ambien and board members at Tesla are worried. Maybe he should try being "on" weed, it could help with the stress.
