The festival's been officially infused with real hip hop.
The initialÂ lineup forÂ New York City'sÂ annualÂ Downtown Music Festival has beenÂ announced, and it incudes Earl Sweatshirt and theÂ Black Hippy collective that is Schoolboy Q, Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock.Â Joining them is aÂ fleet of more alternative artists including Black Dave, Purity Ring, Royal Teeth, Sky Ferreira, Ducktails, DIIV, Teengirl Fantasy, Palma Violets, Beach Fossils and Trash Talk.Â
This is only the first round of actsÂ to be announced. There are more to come.Â
The festivalÂ will be held at multipleÂ ManhattanÂ venues including the Cake Shop,Â Mercury Lounge, Pianos and theÂ Bowery Ballroom.Â Also, after the New York dates theÂ festival will travel to Las Vegas, Los Angeles,Â Philadelphia, Boston,Â Toronto and Denver. Those dates have yet to be announced.Â
